Chapter 53 - Minefield

Although Mrs. Ahmed promised her that she would help her to get into Ahmed corporations, she was not that confident.  Mrs. Ahmed wanted Lisa to get into office so that she could trick Ruhan to go to office as well. Her life evolved around Ruhan. But Mr. Ahmed was not like that. He would prioratise  benefit above everything else. So, at first, Lisa wanted to get a job in branch officers in order to prove her abilities first.

But to her surprise,  Mrs. Ahmed came to Lisa grinning from ear to ear good news. She didn't need to attend interview.  She could join main office under direct supervision of Mr. Ahmed. Lisa was really surprised! She couldn't believe her luck.  What qualifications did she have to get such a big post!!!  Although she had experience, this was Ahmed Corporations they were talking about!!! People needed to work hard for decades to get close to Mr. Ahmed!!!

On second thought...this might be Mrs. Ahmed's doing. By taking Lisa under his wings, it was clear that Mr. Ahmed was preparing her for important jobs. Usually this position would belong to Ruhan. If suddenly Lisa occupied this job, he was bound to be jealous and angry and fight with Lisa to get his rightful position back. Mrs. Ahmed was really sneaky!!!! She really new how to use pillow talk to get things done!

So...on the appointed day, Lisa put on her best clothes and went to the main branch to join. Mr. Ahmed was already waiting for her. He gave her a brief knowledge about how things worked at the company as well as her duties. As he wanted her to get along with her colleagues well. He forbade her to disclose their relationship to others.

Lisa took everything in her mind. She was somewhat grateful. She had never thought that Mr. Ahmed would personally take care of her.

"Uncle...I really can't thank you enough. I must have saved a country in my previous life to get a good father in law like you." Lisa was not stingy with her praise.

"It's nothing. It's the best if important jobs are handled by family members. That way we won't have to worry about betrayal." Mr. Ahmed said warmly.

Lisa felt somewhat guilty when she heard the word 'betray'. Although she did everything for self preservation, it was a fact the she did betray Mr. Ahmed and everyone who cared about her.

But soon she calmed herself down. It was too late to back down. She could only finish what she started and try to keep her secrets under wrap as long as she could.

Lisa followed the secretary to go through the formalities.

After Lisa left, the initial warm smile on Mr. Ahmed suddenly vanished. Instead his face became serious. He was pondering something.

Mr. Ahmed's assistant, Baki couldn't help but him, "Sir...I don't understand. You said yourself that this girl was not easy to deal with. So why did you appoint her to such an important position? She would have access to confidential files. What if...."

"What if?? Are you afraid that she would harm our company?"

Mr. Ahmed suddenly smiled. When Baki saw the smile, he immediately knew that his boss was upto something. Chill ran through his spine. He was really scared of his boss!!!

"Y..yes....or why else would a girl like her go to such lenghts just to enter into your family? She even took the risk of tricking you!!! You said yourself that she was not a gold digger. If she was not doing it for money then she must be doing it for something else!" just thinking about the fact that this damn girl dared to fool Mr. Ahmed made Baki really angry.

"People say...keep your friends close and enemy closer." Mr. Ahmed said after a long pause.

"This girl is intelligent. But no matter hiw intelligent she is one lone girl would never have the courage to trick the Ahmeds if she didn't have anyone to back her up."

"You mean sir..." Baki suddenly understood.

"Exactly. People behind Lisa are our real enemy. However, they are really cunning. Even after a month of investigation I couldn't manage to dig up their identities. Our only clue now is Lisa." Mr. Ahmed explained him patiently.

"If she wants access to confidential files then let her. And follow her closely. I want to know about everyone she communicates with."

"Ok sir.." Baki now understood why his boss suddenly decided to hire his daughter-in-law going against all the protocols. He wanted to flush out his enemies.

On the other side, Lisa had no idea that her cunning father-in-law had long seen through her acts and already started to spy on her.

Unknowingly, she began to dance around the minefield that her father-in-law had prepared for her.
