"Lisa, as a brother, let me be blunt, if you don't converge your arrogance, one day you will be the one to ruin your life." Liton said ruthlessly.
"How could you say something like this? I have never been arrogant in my life." Lisa felt wronged.
The last time her brother scolded her like this was when she mixed with a group of hackers and hacked the official website of LiCorp for fun. She had somehow gained access to some confidential informations that alerted the higher up. The matter blew out of proportion and Lisa had to confess in front of Liton and beg for his help.
Liton suppressed the matter very painstakingly and for this mess he reprimanded her severely.
However, Lisa knew that it was her fault at that time. So she didn't complain. But this time she was the innocent party. So Liton's behaviour made her feel sad.
"You are only 28years old this year. How could you have the guts to sit in an important position like the project manager? What were you thinking? " Liton tried to suppress his anger.
"It's not the 1st time I am occupying an important position. I used to be the acting CEO at LiCorp." Lisa retorted.
Liton sighed. "How can LiCorp compare to a company like Ahmed Corporations? Do you have any idea how many people are working together to bring down that company? As a project manager...you will be the 1st person they would target."
"But....I...." Lisa wasn't convinced.
"Moreover" Liton interrupted, "When you joined LiCorp, everyone knew your identity. So everyone co-operated with you. Tell me honestly, without the help of the senior employees, do you really think that you could handle the messy situation for 4years? The reason you succeeded was 90% due to their assistance and 10% due to your ability. It's high time you grew up Lisa. Don't overestimate yourself. I will not be always with you to clean up your mess."
The last sentence made Lisa turn pale. She had been desperately trying to forget that her brother was sick..he might leave the world at any time. Over the years she had been wearing a mask to show that she was alright. She tried to remain optimistic. But Liton's statement once again exposed her deepest fear.
"Brother" Lisa whispered, "Please don't say anything like this. If you are dissatisfied with me, scold me or even hit me. But please don't think about leaving me." she began to shed tears silently.
Liton remained silent. His health was a taboo in the family. Everyone would avoid this topic. He knew that he shouldn't have made any casual remark.
"I know it's not your fault. You had to shoulder responsibility without proper training. So it's inevitable to make mistakes. But you should never overestimate yourself. Neither should you hurry to progress in life. In the road to success, there is no shortcut. The position of project manager is not something a young girl like you should occupy. You should climb step by step."
"My father-in-law himself appointed me. Even I was surprised back then. What was I supposed to do?" Lisa asked sincerely.
"I don't know why he had appointed you. He must have his reason. But you could have rejected the offer. Or you could have offered to be a trainee under Mr. Ahmed. If you really wanted to occupy that post, at least you could have disclosed your identity. Then everyone would have co-operated with you to curry favour. " Liton tried to bring sense to her.
"You are right brother. It was my fault." Lisa said with guilty conscience. She was so eager to prove herself, to achieve success that she couldn't see the clear picture.
The older employees had worked hard for so many years and she unjustly occupied their position. They were right to oppose her. She should have refused to accept this post or she should have disclosed her identity. But it was too late to regret now.
"Brother...I will correct myself. I have learnt my lesson. But please now help me to out of this mess. Please...
Liton sighed. This girl had always been an expert at creating a mess and he would have to solve them! Never mind! He had always been cleaning up Lisa's mess. One more time would not make any difference.
He just hoped that Lisa had learnt her lesson this time.
